HI, I'M PERRY
I’m running for LA County Supervisor to represent District 5.
I'm here because I have new ideas that
I believe can make life better for you,
me, and all our friends and family.
But nothing will change without you.
So I want to thank you for reading
my story, and I hope you'll join our
movement to make LA amazing.
WHY I'M RUNNING
I love LA. It pains me that our problems keep getting worse, not better.
LA is just plain unaffordable. It shouldn’t be so hard to make ends meet — and none of us should be at risk of becoming homeless.
Our air quality is much worse than it seems: LA has the most dangerous ozone levels in the entire country. The American Lung Association warns it is shortening our life expectancy by four months. This is unacceptable.
Catastrophic wildfires make our air quality even worse, while also destroying everything in their path. As a result, utility rates and insurance rates have gone through the roof. We need a new approach to finally get this under control.
The County’s pet shelters are getting worse, too, with more and more adoptable pets being euthanized rather than adopted. Our furry friends depend on us, and we shouldn't be killing any of them.
As daunting as these problems are, I’m confident we can turn things around and move quickly in the right direction. If I’m elected, I will do everything in my power to make all of us proud of LA by the 2028 Olympics — when the eyes of the world are on us.
I'M NOT A POLITICIAN
One thing is clear: the politicians who got us into this mess won’t be the people to get us out of it.
I’m not a politician, and I’ve never run for office before now. I'll never take money from lobbyists or anyone else who would sit on the other side of the bargaining table. I'm not leaning left or right, I'm leaning forward toward solutions. I'm officially registered as "No Party Preference" and believe our leaders should represent all of us, not just Team Red or Team Blue.
I'm your neighbor. I live in Acton with my life partner Myra, and our three dogs we adopted from the County shelter in 2019. I’m the proud father of two incredible young adults.
I’m in this race because I’m worried for my family — and for your family, too. I am certain that our problems are solvable and that the Board of Supervisors has the power to solve them. I refuse to sit back and watch as our elected leaders fail to protect us.
WE NEED A PLAN
We can do better. We need a plan: an inspiring vision for the future of LA, along with a deep understanding of how to get there.
I have one.
I’m a professional problem solver. I’ve spent my career coming up with new ideas that are both smart economics and the right thing to do, like turning our powder-keg of dry brush into a valuable soil amendment (biochar) that can be sold for a profit. Who would have guessed that fire prevention could pay for itself and then some?!
I’m someone who stays up past midnight to understand the problems that matter to me. I succeed because of my unstoppable drive to keep learning — month after month, year after year, decade after decade. Every single day.
My problem-solving journey began in elementary school, when I learned how to solve the Rubik’s Cube with a novel solution of my own creation. My fastest time even beat the then world record. In college, I studied economics at Wharton Business School, where I graduated in the top 1% of my class. If elected, I would be the only Supervisor with a background in economics. My next stop was Harvard Law School, where I again graduated with honors. If elected, I would be the only Supervisor with a background in the law. This training helps me understand the economic and legal frameworks that determine whether a policy will succeed or is doomed to fail.
Although I love learning and solving problems, I’m also someone who’s happiest working with my hands on the hilly five acres where I live. I'm up early almost every day to make improvements, like unearthing hidden rocks on the property and turning them into beautiful and productive raised bed gardens.
I should probably get more sleep.
IMAGINATION + HARD WORK
I know what it takes to bring a vision to life, and I’m not afraid to start from scratch. I’ve founded many successful businesses and nonprofits, which is exactly the can-do spirit we need on the Board of Supervisors.
I’m also a part-time lawyer, mainly focused on helping inventors. My work has enabled my clients to receive more than $1 billion from their innovations, and I’ve been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Los Angeles magazine for the past 12 years in a row.
In 2013, I founded E Pluribus University. Pluribus is a problem-solving community committed to solving complicated issues like housing by putting our heads together — while also elevating LA as a hotspot for smart new ideas.
Pluribus’ first project, ThriveLA, has a blueprint for how we can transform some of the unused land in northern LA County (east of Palmdale and Lancaster) into communities of privately owned small farms, where folks without a home can work and pay for their own employer-provided housing. Unlike government handouts, these live–work communities are a real solution to meet LA’s need for a large and rapid increase in the supply of housing that’s truly affordable — not subsidized.
Our leaders already tried and failed to solve our problems using your hard-earned tax dollars. Now, it’s time to get creative.
NOTHING CHANGES WITHOUT YOU
I’m not the incumbent. I don’t have seven figures of funding. I’m not beholden to special interests. I’m just a man with a plan.
Turning this plan into a reality starts with you. It starts with you believing that things can get better — and then voting for the guy who will make it happen.
I promise you won’t be disappointed, and I humbly request your help. So please, share this website. Tell your family. Talk to your friends. Join our movement on social media.
And vote for me, Perry Goldberg, on March 5. Let’s go!!!
